Our FiftyUp Club Budget Survey hits the headlines
More than 6300 members of the FiftyUp Club completed our Budget Survey, with the results making national headlines.
The survey results featured in national newspapers across the country including the Courier Mail, the Advertiser and the NT news. The full story was also published on the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph websites.
The survey highlights a significant willingness among older Australians to work until the age of 70, but concern that satisfactory work, suited to their physical capabilities, will not be available.
FiftyUp Club Chairman John Mangos has more to say about the results of the survey here. But you can also check out his discussion on Channel 7′s The Morning Show with presenters Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
The Survey also found most Australians aged over 50 are in favour of some form of a debt levy. Results of 1270 people over 50 found that:
- 27% of over-50s said it was “unfair to pick on people because they work hard and earn more”, but
- 24% agreed that “everyone needs to contribute” to the Budget repair and
- 37% supported a debt levy if it kicked in at a threshold higher than $80,000
As the Budget is fast approaching we will continue to advocate on your behalf and hope to release all the findings of our survey in the coming days.
