Mother’s Day Competition: our favourite entries
Here at FiftyUp Club HQ, you made us laugh and cry with your suggestions for making Mother’s Day memorable.
There’s no doubt about it – FiftyUps know what is important in life and how to celebrate it.
The winner of our competition was Annette from the Central Coast in NSW, who wrote:
“I have several friends who have mothers that have already passed away, so I take time out to ring my friends and talk and reminisce about their mums. A joyous celebration of their motherhood. With my mother still alive, I am grateful and feel modest, respectful and unassuming to my friends loss.”
Annette received a Mother’s Day phone call from Club Chairman John Mangos.
From the FiftyUp Club team, we hope you had a fantastic Mother’s Day Annette.
There were many beautiful ideas. Fort example, Carolyn from Queensland has “adopted” a mum from the local craft group since her own mum passed away.
“Every Friday we have a mother-daughter day where we go for a drive or spend that morning doing craft together. This Friday I have booked a manicure for Jean as she has said that she had not had one for a long time and it is going to be a surprise. I am then going to be taking her and another friend to Brisbane on Tuesday to see The King and I. I so enjoy that time that Jean and I spend together and we both enjoy each other’s company.”
Kim from NSW also had a grand plan for those whose mums are still here.
“My favourite way to surprise my mum would be to send her to a tropical island, not before I cooked breakfast, then send her for a pedicure. And a hairdo. Then do all the jobs around the house while she was away.
“Unfortunately my mum isn’t here so I could do all that for her, so to all that have a mum still here, make sure you spoil them. Happy Mother’s Day all mums.”
