1000s have had their say. Now it’s your turn.
I write to you this week with a call to action.
We have a golden opportunity, which we should share, and not neglect with inaction.
Federal Health Minister Peter Dutton has agreed to meet with me in the first week of August when he returns from Glasgow.
This is my chance to be your voice ‘one-on-one’ with the man who controls your health policy.
With more than 90,000 of us now, we are becoming more and more difficult to ignore, and thousands have already answered a 3-minute survey on health policy that will form the basis of our submission to the Health Minister.
If you haven’t yet, it’s vital that you click here to tell the Health Minister what you think and then get more friends and relatives to join the FiftyUpClub ASAP. Tell them it is obligation-free, and take a couple of minutes to fill in our survey with your views on rising health care costs.
I really want to overwhelm the Minister with the weight of numbers.
I want to tell him directly about the things that worry you – like the $7 co-payment for GP visits, change to the PBS co-payments, health insurance for older Australians, and any other concerns you have.
That is how we can achieve change.
The Health Minister’s office has agreed to meet with me because we’ve been advocating on behalf of FiftyUps on the subject of health care costs for a long time now.
I have reason to believe that he is a fair and decent man and will listen.
But he must also understand that we are the bedrock of Australian society. We
are prepared to do our fair share of heavy lifting … as long as it is fair.
That we are the ones who pay our bills and deserve rewards, not penalties, for our long and enduring contribution.
I am really calling on you.
I don’t want to go to Canberra empty handed for a pretty picture.
I want numbers that stack up and roar.
We have barely a couple of weeks to come up with a substantial submission.
Let’s get to it!
Warmest Regards,
John
