10,000 FiftyUps needed to bring offers and campaigns to Victoria

vic-fbThe FiftyUp Club is searching for 10,000 Victorians to join the fight for FiftyUps and help create the buying power needed to bring them the discounts, special offers, and political influence they deserve.

Club Chairman John Mangos successfully launched the Club in Victoria, with more than 2000 Victorians joining within the first few hours.

You can listen to Chairman John speak to Ross on 3AW about the Victorian campaign.

But we need 10,000 Victorians in total to bring the exclusive group-discounted offers on electricity & insurance that our members in Queensland and NSW have unlocked.

With already 95,000 members in the northern states we are so close to reaching our 100,000 target.

Joining is entirely cost-free and obligation-free at www.FiftyUpClub.com

I'm sick of trying to sort through all the different offers from gas and electricity suppliers. I always pay my bills on time but now I'm getting penalised for not having my bills emailed and paid by direct debit. Not fair!!!!

Does this FiftyUp initiative not overlap or duplicate what COTA (Council of the Ageing) and Victorian Seniors are already doing in Victoria? If it doesn't, it may make sense to consolidate or partner with them. Otherwise, our attention is being distracted across too many groups. FYI, Victorian Seniors Card program has already negotiated discounts with AGL Energy and there are ongoing discounts with many retailers and service providers.

Hi LS, We are a consumer movement who's open to anyone aged 50 and over, not just seniors. While we advocate and lobby on behalf of our members, we specialise in using our group buying power to negotiate special offers from business on household utilities such as electricity or health insurance. Hope that clears things up.

Hi 50Up, Keith and Megan, By the same token, advocacy not delimited by age would have much wider membership and hence likely to get a better response from providers. Is that not covered by The Big Switch i.e. not limited by age? Happy to be proven wrong and I'd be interested to see if this club can get better deals than similar Big Switch initiatives.

National Seniors also covers this area.

This club gets a bigger response from providers as it is national not state based. So with large companies like Optus and Telstra, AGL and banks its gives a nationwide base to get better deals. As a victorian I have been a member since it first started in NSW and am very happy with the offers coming my way, with no pressure to enlist and each offer is clearly explained with no pressure. I like to be able to read offers which over the phone marketing does not allow and I feel pressured with phone or door offers and will always say no. This way I feel safer, less pressured and that it has been carefully vetted with a large group of like minded over 50's. You will not be disappointed

I hope we can see some great benefits for over 50's. I am 61 and fearing how I will afford to pay utilities and health insurance in retirement.
