A Big FiftyUp Hello from Victoria

John MangosHi Fellow Members,

I just thought I’d drop you a quick postcard from Melbourne given I am here for our launch into Victoria.

It’s always lovely to come back to the place where I was born and raised, but what a welcome … last week when I was here I sat in the MCG at the Grand Final and marvelled at how the 100,000 people around me was just over the same number of people who’ve already joined us as members.

Today that’s almost a reality, but we might have to build a new grandstand for the thousands more that look like joining us in the days ahead.

The launch couldn’t have been smoother with a start on breakfast radio joining 3AW’s Ross and John, then an interview with Seven Nightly News, and a meeting with some of the 2,000 members we already had in Victoria before the launch.

Then came the news that Victorians had begun embracing the FiftyUp Club in droves to drive our numbers up across Eastern Australia and in so doing empower us even further.

Thank you Victoria, in the days ahead keep an eye on your Dashboard. With 10,000 new members we will be able to bring you the group-discounted offers on electricity & insurance that our members in Queensland and NSW have unlocked.

If there is ONE thing we’d love to see everyone in Victoria do this week, it’s to tell a friend about the Club and ask them to join.

Now that the Grand Final is over (I am still hurting over the Swans’ loss), we can unite, all belong to the same club, encourage more friends and relatives to come on board, and race into the Spring Carnival ready to pick some FiftyUp winners!

Carn the Vics, I knew you wouldn’t let me down,

Cheer Cheer,
John

Does this FiftyUp initiative not overlap or duplicate what COTA (Council of the Ageing) and Victorian Seniors are already doing in Victoria? If it doesn't, it may make sense to consolidate or partner with them. Otherwise, our attention is being distracted across too many groups. FYI, Victorian Seniors Card program has already negotiated discounts with AGL Energy and there are ongoing discounts with many retailers and service providers.
