Majority of Over-50s support Daylight Saving in Queensland
Almost two thirds of older Australians believe Queensland should adopt daylight saving according to a recent poll of more than 1000 Australians aged 50 and older.
54% of older Australians say daylight saving is better for business, tourism, health and leisure, according to the FiftyUp Club Member Poll.
The results also reveal:
- 8% are in favour of the move, but for south-east Queensland only
- 18% said no the debate is over because the state has already voted against it, and
- 2% said no because it’s unfair on farmers
Chairman of the FiftyUp Club John Mangos said the daylight saving debate was far from over.
“The Daylight saving debate is one of Australia’s greatest BBQ stoppers.
On one hand you can see why businesses in South East Queensland are in favour of daylight saving. On the other hand you can see why the farmers in the north don’t want it.”
