SOUTH AUSTRALIA! FINALLY, A CLUB TO STICK UP FOR CONSUMERS AGED FIFTY & UP

Australia’s fastest-growing consumer club for the over-50s launches into SA today, seeking 1000 South Australians aged 50 and up to join the Club.

The FiftyUp Club has grown to almost 200,000 members around Australia in less than three years, and is now looking to build its buying and lobbying power in South Australia.

The FiftyUp Club will then campaign on behalf of South Australian consumers 50 and over, lobbying for their interests and creating the special offers they deserve.

FiftyUps are one-third of the population and have half of the nation's household buying power, but just 10% of sales budgets are targeted at them.

The Australian Human Rights Commission has found many FiftyUps experience “product invisibility”, feeling “overlooked” by corporate Australia.

But not anymore. With the help of thousands of members, the FiftyUp Club is giving our fastest-growing demographic the influence it deserves.

“FiftyUps are the best customers that companies can hope for – they are loyal, high value and low risk,” said FiftyUp Club campaign director Christopher Zinn

FiftyUp Club spokeswoman Kayley Harris said: “FiftyUps are also the backbone of our economy and they don’t like advertising that only targets them with products focusing on physical deficiencies or retirement products.”

Joining the FiftyUp Club is free. The Club uses the combined buying power of its members to unlock discounts and special offers and conduct campaigns.

Consumers can join for free at www.FiftyUpClub.com.au The Club currently has several exclusive offers for the over-50s and is seeking more special offers from South Australian businesses.

RECENT FIFTYUP CLUB RESEARCH

The FiftyUp Club has asked 1000s of over-50s for their views on cost of living this year and learnt that:

  • 72% rate Healthcare costs as the number one issue for them in the forthcoming election
  • Super is the #2 issue (11%) and work for older Australians is the #3 issue (9%).
  • 62% don’t expect a comfortable retirement.
  • The bill that causes them most stress is private health insurance, followed by Energy, and Home and Contents Insurance
  • 76% have changed the provider of a household bill and of those, 77% said it was electricity.
  • Over-50s pay almost one-and-a-half times the national average premium increase on Health Insurance
  • The #1 reason over-50s are reluctant to change health funds is ‘it’s too hard to compare’, even thoguh 80% who changed said it was “easy”.
  • 90% changed a provider to save money proving that FiftyUps can be very savvy when it comes to their cost of living.
  • But many over-50s are blindly loyal: every decade makes us 11% more likely to be loyal to our current providers, according to a QUT study.

My main concern is the cost of private heath insurance. I would like to stay with my current provider but with lower premiums through negotiation.

Checked out your Electricity Deals of which are poor as I can do better with dealing direct with Origin myself. Hope your other deals are better than what I can get myself.

Why has the Fiftyup Club been operating in eastern states fot two years but only just become available to South Australians? Once again SA has been left out. Thanks very much. We could have been enjoying the savings for the past 2 years just like the east. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!

I had no idea that there were no members from all states, until this post. Seems daft when the net is global. Means if you & some other states left out of comments/discussions in last 1-2 yrs then results of surveys have not been representative of the whole of the country. As a member in NSW, apologies, and let's hope you all can participate in future as the issues affect all.

The first I even knew of the existence of the FiftyUp Club was a few days ago when there was a feature story on TodayTonight in Adelaide. Seems like it hasn't been Promoted very well.
