Radio Show Survey Results Are In!

Thank you to everyone who replied to our survey about our new radio show. The results are in!

When we asked what topics you most wanted us to talk about, Health came in top of the list at 75%. It was followed closely by Money Saving Tips at 74%, and then:

  • Travel destinations for over 50’s – 62%
  • Technology - 56%
  • Retirement and financial planning - 55%

Next up we asked what annoys you on the radio and regular themes were:

  • “People talking on subjects they don’t know anything about” (we will have expert commentators in their field)
  • “Hosts who talk over callers” (We won’t break this golden rule of radio)
  • One respondent asked that “the regular segments be held at the same time each week” so he can tune in to his favorite subjects. (We will definitely be doing this with regular segments on Heath, Travel, Finance and Money Saving ideas)

You're big radio listeners! 62% of you listen for between 1-5 hours a day and most of you listen to the breakfast show more than any other time slot.

77% of us listen to the radio at home, and 73% listen in the car.

The FiftyUp Club Radio Show will start next week and it will be accessible in Sydney via 954AM and in all other states via digital radio, online and mobile.

The Show starts on September 5 from 4-5pm, Monday-Thursday.

We are so excited to be able to speak to our club members about the issues that are important to us. Make sure you call in for a chat.

My husband is 69 y.o. lost his job. I am the only one working, I'm 63 y.o. working as an RN on contract. Centrelink would not give us a healthcare card we are both on medication it is becoming to that point wherein we might skip having test done when required or seeing a specialist as it is becoming more expensive.

Re below comment from me. Found a price list for One Big Switch deal, prices incl GST. For meter in NSW on ordinary rate with controlled 1 (for off peak rate HWS), daily supply charge is 103.02 cents/day, general power 26.91cents/KWH and off-peak H.W.S. is 14.56/KWH. Wasn't clear if for solar or non-solar on page I found.

AS 1/1/17 soon upon us, hope one of first topics on radio will be price of electricity for solar contributors and also comparison of various deals offered for all electricity users. One Big Switch offer with Powershop today not too hot, can't get fineprint/prices without personal details after login, but the NSW Seniors offer last week from Powershop shows Daily Supply charge at 104.90 cents/day for solar and 89.25 cents/day for non-solar users and if you go to the Powershop site via Google 89.25cents is their standard charge not even their lower charge of 85.68cents for the 'PowerSaver' price so how is this a special deal? My existing supply charge is 75.61 cents/day for solar. Hope to hear more about it on radio.

Comments not readily forthcoming re my queries yesterday, maybe i should not risk insuring away from my current insurer who quoted $400, Woolworths quote $600, when compared they offered $125 in Woolies gift cards, but what about renewal time next year with Woolies possibly $600 plus, hence my cautious call for comment yesterday better with the devil one knows it would seem. As for the radio stn possibly no guarantee after one outlays the cost of a digital radio one will receive the Sydney stn loud 'n clear. I would not bother to sit at computer just to listen to the broadcast . So i guess i am no better off with these offers. Damn It.. Graham..

Hi Graham, Venita and Cheri! Graham in response to your enquiry about Woolworths, it's difficult to answer why Woolworths quote would be higher not knowing your personal circumstances. With the radio show, you can listen on a digital radio irrespective of where you are in the country as it doesn't work like analog radio. We're hoping to be able to giveaway some digital radios through the newsletter next week. You can also download the podcasts and listen whenever you like through your phone or computer at a time that suits you. Hope this helps. Kayley

Hi Graham, re car insurance, like all insurance nobody knows til they claim so if were me I'd google to see if any forums (Whirlpool is one) re Woolies and people claiming. I looked at Coles when they started it, cheaper premiums & excess higher so I stayed with existing as better re excess & good reputation--APIA, not had car claim but excellent when house damage re storm/roof. Whirlpool has forum on item/subjects when people ask question, easy to use, sign up and you can ask the question re Woolies & it will start a thread if not already there.

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO RECEIVE THE RADIO STATION BROADCAST FOR A FIFTYUP CLUB MEMBER LIVING ON THE GOLD COAST, ALSO HAS ANY MEMBER MADE A CLAIM THRU WOOLWORTHS CAR INSURANCE AS I AM CONTEMPLATING INSURING MY VEHICLE WITH THEM , IT HAS BEEN PUT TO ME THAT MAKING A CLAIM COULD BE NOT AS SATISFACTORY AS OTHER WELL ESTABLISHED INSURERS IN THIS CATEGORY?
