The FiftyUp Club Show Launches!

We were all very excited this week about the launch of the FiftyUp Club Show on 2UE Talking Lifestyle. The show has been months in the planning and it was great to finally get to air Monday to Thursday from 7-8pm AEST.

So far we’ve talked about our Health Insurance campaign, the government’s latest superannuation changes, how to slash your power bills and how to save on insurance, parking and flights by pre-paying.

You can CLICK HERE for more info on how to listen, or to hear this week's podcasts.

We’d also love you to call in on 13 12 83 between 7-8pm AEST!

Joining me on the program each day is Luke Bona, a veteran broadcaster who anchors the program and keeps me to time! Luke and I discussed our vinyl record collection and talked about our first album. Caller John told us his first album was Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens and I admitted to buying Abba’s iconic Arrival album in 1976. Who can forget the K-Tel Record Selector and the “Ripper” series of compilations?

We were also joined by Andrew Dowling from the website Stitch which focuses on hooking people up for companionship…a great alternative to online dating which can be very daunting for the over 50’s!

We found out about a very interesting survey from Ohio that claims that people who listen to music before surgery are 42% calmer than those that don’t. That got us thinking about what you wouldn’t want to hear on the bedside playlist and we had some great calls suggesting “The First Cut Is The Deepest” from caller Colin, “Mack The Knife” and “Cold As Ice”!

It can be challenging coming up with topics that will engage our audience but being 52 myself, I like to think I have an inkling…. but we would still love you to tell us about the topics you’d like covered or if you know of a very interesting story or person, please feel free to drop me a line at kayley@fiftyupclub.com.au

It is great that over 50,s now have a voice. As self funded retirees , my wife & I will never vote for a main stream party ever again. We are sick and tired as being referred to as "rich". We grew up in housing commission, left school in grade 10 my mother being stay at home and my father a taxi driver. We are self made, prudent and proud that we are not a burden in retirement yet all we get from LNP & Labor how elitist we are and don't understand working class & the social welfare people. What crap.
