As if Gen Y's obsession with Snapchat isn't confusing enough, the app has gained even more popularity with its "selfie filters".
These filters use face scanning technology to manipulate your face in all kinds of crazy ways- make up, face swapping, animals, distortion, etc.

Snapchat's filters are fun and easy to use. It's no wonder millennials can't put their phones down.
If you want to try these filters yourself, here's how you do it:
1. Open the Snapchat application on your mobile phone.
2. Make sure your front camera is on. (The selfie camera) If it's not, press the flip camera button in the top right hand corner.
3. Press and hold down on your face until a grid appears.
4. Swipe left to scroll through the available filters.
5. Choose your filter and follow any instructions, such as "open your mouth" or "raise your eyebrows".
6. Press the capture button for a photo or press and hold it down to record a video.
7. Review your creation.
8. Send your masterpiece around to your mates!
