WiseWear’s new smart bracelets will have you feeling glamourous and safe

Finally, a fitness band with some aesthetic appeal! We’ve recently learned about a brand called WiseWear, who make bracelets that function as a luxury activity trackers- recording calories burned, steps taken, distance travelled and active time. The smart bracelets can also sync with mobile phones to vibrate and notify you of an incoming call, text, email or event.

The bracelet functions similarly to a Fitbit, but truly fuses fashion with technology.

According to Vanderbilt School of Engineering News, WiseWear’s founder Jerry Wilmink didn’t set out to make smart jewellry, but he discovered unique technology that allows information to be transmitted through metal and realised its potential.

When Wilmink lost his father to a fall in 2010, he became inspired to develop a solution. This solution evolved from crafting hearing aid devices with biosensors to placing sensing technology inside of everyday items.

One of the scariest scenarios we face as we age is the very real possibility of falling on our own. WiseWear is attempting to tackle this obstacle head on and have come up with quite the stylish solution.

WiseWear teamed up with style icon Iris Apfel to create a fashionable line of smart bracelets called Socialite. The Socialite collection puts emphasis on couture, health and safety. The pieces are sleek and eye catching in their own right.
