NSW/VIC – River Cottage Cooking School – (WIN TICKETS)
We're thrilled to offer 2 tickets to ‘Cook with Kelly’ - Saturday, 12th November.
Classes go from 10am to 4.30pm. They include morning tea, lunch and a tour of the RCA farm.
Kelly will teach you how to make the following yummies from scratch:
* Home made butter
* Twisted bread with kale pesto
* Garden ravioli with home made ricotta, burnt butter and garlic chive blossoms
* Home cured bacon
* Rhubarb jam
* Brioche donuts
All of the teachers specialise in different things in our class - mine is all about what we can harvest and cook with from the RCA garden, and what we can source locally and seasonally.
We also do cheese making, nose to tail and butchery, a pastry class including choux pastry, tartlets and a 6 foot long strudel, and of course Paul West specialises in River Cottage recipes.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA – WALK IN HER SHOES (What’s on Only)
CARE Australia is an amazing not-for-profit organisation that sets out to "Defend Dignity & Fight Poverty" on a global scale, not just Australia. They have volunteers all over the world hoping to achieve this goal & now they are inviting all Australians to take part in the 'Walk in Her Shoes' campaign.
Between the 10th to the 23rd of October; walkers, runners and joggers are invited to register and partake in a challenge set by themselves for the good of others. Over 13 days you choose a distance between 10-150 kilometres to achieve collectively over the time period. You can share the campaign amongst your friends, family, work colleagues and so on and see your contribution rise as you get active.

VICTORIA – THE AGE OF AEROSPACE (What’s On Only)
Last week we brought you news of the The Draconid Meteor shower gracing Victorian skies and in keeping with the space theme we have a great free event on for Melburnians tomorrow (Sat October 15).
The Boeing Company is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and as part of the celebrations, it has sponsored a documentary series - The Age of Aerospace. There have been major advances in civilian, military and space technology over the past century, including pioneering aircraft designs like the B-17 Flying Fortress and 747 jetliner to the Space Launch System that will take mankind to Mars and beyond.

ACT – FLORIADE (What’s On Only)
Floriade is a celebration of spring held annually at Commonwealth Park, on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The park is taken over each year with raised garden beds full of tulips and springtime flowers for as far as the eye can see. All year, gardeners and horticulturists prepare the beds around the park and plant over one million bulbs, timed to bloom throughout the month of Floriade.
There are also market stalls, food trucks, cooking demonstrations, children's activities, rides, sculptural displays and exhibitions. This event is a highlight for Canberra's tourism industry, with over 400,000 people attending the event annually.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – MACK AND MABEL (What’s On Only)

Celebrating their 50th year of performances, Northern Light Theatre Company will recreate the mayhem, laughter and calamity of it all presenting Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart's "Mack & Mabel".
