ACT – Fifteen Young Men – Australia’s Untold Football Tragedy-WIN THE BOOK!

On a calm Saturday during the Queen's Birthday weekend in 1892 the young men from the Mornington Football Club boarded a boat bound for home. None of them would make it back alive. Most of the world's greatest sporting disasters are well recognised — Manchester United (1958), Marshall University (1970) and a provincial Uruguayan rugby team (1972) — but few know about Australian sport's most mournful day. It happened on a calm Saturday during the Queen's Birthday weekend in 1892.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – Hacksaw Ridge Fundraiser for Melanoma – WIN TICKETS!

Everyone is invited to join the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation (AMRF) in helping raise desperately needed funding to help research into melanoma continue, by supporting the special screening of Mel Gibson's latest movie, Hacksaw Ridge on Sunday, at 3.30 pm, on 6 November, 2016 at Wallis Cinema, Mitcham.

AMRF has chosen Hacksaw Ridge, because it is an incredible movie based on the inspirational true story of Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who during the bloodiest battle of Okinawa, during World War ll, singularly saved 75 men without firing a gun.

Peter from QLD commented:

What continues to frustrate me is governments, politicians, media and bureaucrats (the political class) of all types are really big on social laws, rules and inititiaves resulting in big government but continually ignore the ECONOMY and the need for small government. Bring on the independents who seem to understand the silent majority hopes & aspirations.

Hi Peter, can I post your comment in the Fiftyup Club newsletter this week? If yes, do you have a photo I could use? Kayley
