AUSTRALIA’S BEST ENERGY CUSTOMERS PUNISHED FOR THEIR LOYALTY
A survey has revealed that 1 in 3 over-50s are not receiving energy discounts despite more than half of them rating energy bills as their most stressful household bill.
The survey of 5,000+ was ran as a part of the Fair Go for FiftyUps campaign, which was launched to empower consumers over-50 and to get them the discounts they deserve.
When asked what level of discount the FiftyUps were receiving, it was revealed:
-
36% receive no discount whatsoever,
-
25% enjoy just 1 – 10% discount
-
and just 8% are receiving discounts of over 20%
These statistics are most alarming considering the vast majority of Australia has a deregulated energy market of which there are discounts available to those who switch.
Loyalty is the reason FiftyUps often miss out on discounts. The bulk of those surveyed say they’re better customers now they’re over 50. 43% stated it’s because they’re more loyal.
Equally as alarming is the fact Energy came out as being rated as the most stressful household bill with 56% of registrants marking it as their number one.
This is the kind of strain the Fair Go for FiftyUps campaign hopes to beat by using group buying power of the now 240,000 strong member base of the FiftyUp Club.
The campaign aims to push that number past a quarter of a million and unleash a range of new special offers for the over 50s on energy, insurance and telco.
FiftyUp Club Radio Show host Kayley Harris today commented on the findings;
“FiftyUps are Australia’s best customers. They pay on time and they’re loyal. Unfortunately this loyalty means they’re not always offered the best deals available.
“1 in 3 FiftyUps not receiving any form of discount is far too many. Switching energy is easy. It takes less than 5 minutes and you don’t need to cancel with your current provider.
“The FiftyUp Club has been able to unlock big discounts on energy before. Right now, we want to reach a total 250,000 members and unlock even bigger discounts.”
Joining the FiftyUp Club is entirely cost and obligation free. Anyone can join at www.FiftyUpClub.com.au and the Fair Go for FiftyUps campaign before the 6th of March.
