Meet the oldest Air Ambulance Nurse in Australia

Maureen Roberts has many career highlights to share from her 32 years as Australia’s longest serving air ambulance nurse.

In a recent interview on Macquarie Media, Maureen told the story of the pilot of her aircraft passing out at the controls and how she calmly popped his oxygen mask on and brought him around enough to land the plane. And you thought your job had challenges!

Maureen began her career in the Riverina and became interested in the Air Ambulance are speaking to a fellow nurse from the service. She started her career in Albury but is now based at Mascot, near Sydney.

Another memorable moment of her career involved a premature baby in the skies over the Hunter Valley in NSW. The Air Ambulance needed to land but a FA18 Hornet on “critical fuel” took precedence. Maureen remembers saying to the Air Ambulance pilot “the fighter pilot can eject if he needs to but we can’t, we need to land”!

One of the wonderful things about her job, Maureen told us, is that every day is a different experience depending on the patients you're transporting.

“Sometimes you're taking people home to die and they know they're going to die and they have the most amazing conversations with you."

Being the greatest supporters of the dole bludgers I consider it our rite to recieve at least a discount on what ever we can get as I personally am sick of having to support all the illegal imigrants and dole bludgers and recieve nothing in return also not being elligible to recieve any benifit from the government from all the taxes I pay every year. I feel like I am a sponge being squeezed for money at every turn. Hope this gives at least some benifit back to people like me.

We shall see what this delivers, after delving into every nook and cranny it seemed like a condensed census. Won't mind if it yields dividends and not just a phishing expedition.

Australians deserve a fair go, we pay enough taxes and contribute all our life. Those who raised a good family has contributed the best society for future generations. Now we must know how we benefit from this FiftyUp Club please. Thank you to the instigators and 2GB Radio Station. Antoine` Baulkham Hills

A fair go for those who have worked hard all their life, taken out insurances and have no way of acquiring discounts for services.

group discounts especially on energy, essential services, groceries, insurances, travel for loyal long term customers. Make sure loyalty & long term customer discounts are real & sjubstantial & not just lip service (as I have found in NRMA insurances loyalty products where the original price has had the loyalty discounts added on)
