Molly's Top 1000

Last weekend on the MAX Channel (in case you missed it), Aussie music legend Molly Meldrum counted down the Top 1000 songs of all time.

On our Daily Drive show the week prior we interviewed Molly about the list but trying to get him to reveal anything on the list was like getting blood from a (rolling) stone.

I have a theory that music is subjective…my favourite may not necessarily be yours but you can’t argue with sales figures so here’s the list of the Top 10:

Do you think any other songs should have made the Top 10? Leave your comments below:

1. Bohemian Rhapsody -Queen

2. Sweet Child O'Mine - Guns & Roses

3. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

4. Imagine - John Lennon

5. You're The Voice - John Farnham

6. Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

7. Purple Rain - Prince & The Revolution

8. It's A Long Way To The Top - AC/DC

9. Thriller - Michael Jackson

10. Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones

Stairway To Heaven will always hold a sentimental place in my heart. My eldest brother loved Led Zepellin and Eric Clapton, so at his recent funeral, we played Eric Claptons "Tears in Heaven", and Led Zepellins "Stairway to Heaven".

Molly, Molly, Molly. Not one BEATLE song here! Come on........there has to be at least one BEATLE song. Maybe Get Back by the Beatles as my number 1 or Revolution.

Music, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. My top few are: Eloise (Barry Ryan); The Lonely Surfer (instrumental Jack Niztcshe); Get Back (Beatles); Good Vibratons (Beachboys); Here Comes The Night (Them); Gloria (Laura Brannigan); She's So Fine (Easybeats); Sky Pilot (Animals); Frozen Orange Juice (Peter Sarstedt); Classical Gas (Mason Williames.
