Click here to have your say on what sacrifices you making right now to pay your household bills.

So far, 31% of respondents report cutting back on basics such as food, heating and electricity while 27% are going without a holiday. Some members are even going with out heating in winter while one member is still paying last year’s winter electricity bill! Some comments:

  • Cutting back on insurance and refinancing loans
  • Going without holidays, cut back on heating by not using it and turn off power points when not in use, reviewed all of our insurances by slashing our premiums, cut out home phone and internet services.
  • Just about live in the dark - 1 or 2 lights only + tv
  • Buying only things on special

I would like to Government to be more supportive of self funded retirees. I have worked and saved and planned for many years to be self funded in retirement and continue to be penalised by changes in Legislation. Please lobby the government and request the maximum amount in an income account be raised to 2M instead of 1.6M and the commonwealth seniors health care card to still issued to seniors when income accounts are consolidated. Consolidated income accounts allows for less deductions in fees and gives seniors greater cash flow with the government then paying less in aged pensions.

what do you expect mate?we flood australia with immigrants whenever the current workers fight for a fair deal then the majority of followers say we just dont like competition. Great lets import a couple of hundred thousand media workers and politicians then!Only then when your wages drop down to $20 per hour we will see whos complaining about competition.Cost of living rises and my pay hasnt cannot and did not rise for the last 10 years.electricity bill over $700 most terms.tried i select coudnt get a better deal.I have a low doc home loan that no banks will touch and i cant afford to do super annuation because im a abn,no holiday or sick pay and last time i lost my licence for a month and couldnt work the dss would not give me new start allowance because i had to run out of money first. So 2 days after i was due to get my licence back is when i was to recieve my first unemployment benefit. .Australia has become nothing more than a slave labour prison for me.But at least my tax paid dollars go to something i have absolutely no interest in what so ever{an australian soccer team}.Funny how we look after immigrants sports with taxpayers money but cripple our own codes by leaving them self funded. So enjoy your caviar turnbull!

The government still ignores "the elephant in the room". The bloated grossly overpaid public service in Canberra. Not only a huge costs that does not represent value for money. They keep creating through politicians more laws, rules & regulations mostly based on fear and propaganda that makes live very difficult if you live outside the bubble called Canberra
