We are extending our energy offers!

We have negotiated an extension on our current group-discounted energy offers, as 2017 looks to set a switching record with 1.9 million households expected to change power providers by the end of the year.

Since the campaign launched in August more than 45,000 of you have joined the campaign and are now accessing the following discounts:

  • 37% off Electricity usage and supply in NSW with Click Energy*,
  • 34% off Electricity usage & supply in VIC with Click Energy*,
  • 28% off Electricity usage in SA with Alinta Energy*,
  • 25% off Electricity usage & supply in SEQLD with Alinta Energy.*

According to our analysis, the discounts could save an average 4-person household:

  • up to $615 in NSW that switches from Electricity and Gas standing offers
  • up to $909 in VIC that switches from Electricity and Gas standing offers
  • up to $660 in SA that switches from Electricity and Gas standing offers
  • And up to $538 in SEQLD that switches from Electricity standing offers

More than 1.2 million Australian households have switched energy providers this year according to the Australian Energy Market Operator, an increase of more than 200,000 from the same time last year and trending towards a record 1.9 million by December 31.

Campaign Director Christopher Zinn said, “if the current rate of switching continues a record 1.9m of us will change energy providers this year. That’s almost as big as the entire population of Brisbane.”

“I’d encourage all consumers who want cheaper bills to grab this opportunity; see if the offers are right for you, then switch, negotiate with your provider or shop around.”

^This is a FiftyUp Club analysis. Estimated potential savings figures are the average across the state for a 4 person household in NSW using the zone average for Electricity, with usage assumed to peak anytime (AusGrid 5,336kWh, Endeavour 6,031kWh, Essential 5,059kWh - sourced from https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/) and the state average for Gas (21,770MJ - sourced from Jemena). If such a household switches both bills from the average standing/basic Electricity & Gas offers of the 3 biggest electricity retailers - Energy Australia, Origin and AGL – they could save the amount estimated in the 1st year. How much commission does this group receive? Sounds like a gravy train to me. full of rhetoric. Not much detail or substance with representative bill costs and full of provisos designed to make out how wonderful fifty up is.

I was hoping that you would have information listed for residents in Tasmania

"See appendix for calculations^", but where is the appendix, or a link to it? (ref: https://www.fiftyupclub.com/news/2017/10/05/we-are-extending-our-energy-offers) Your site is very light on for details. With Christopher Zinn's background I'm stunned. Also, your site's workflow seems to require me to provide you with a date of birth before I can even see the offer. I'd suggest you are driving web traffic away with this approach. My experience suggests that you are targeting non-sophisticated consumers. You've certainly alienated me.
