The cheapest NBN plans from Telstra, Optus, iiNet, and TPG
Looking for a low-price NBN plan, but want to stick with a bigger-name telco? If you’re not in need of premium connection speeds, Telstra, Optus, iiNet and TPG all offer lower-cost broadband service, configured on NBN’s Basic and Standard speed plans.
Telstra
Unfortunately for Telstra customers, even its cheapest NBN plans still start from $69 per month for 100GB of data.
However, as this plan is configured on Standing Evening Speed, you do get slightly faster speeds.
Need more data? Telstra’s unlimited data NBN plans start at $99.99 per month, with Standard Plus Evening Speed. This plan includes Telstra TV and a Foxtel Now subscription, but if you’re looking to cut down on your monthly internet bills, it isn’t the most affordable option out there.
All of the above pricing applies for both 24-month contract plans and month-to-month service, but Telstra’s casual plans come with a significantly high upfront setup fee of $435.

Optus
All of Optus’ NBN plans now include unlimited gigabytes each month, so your only decision is which speed to go with.
The absolute cheapest plan is the $60 Basic Evening Speed deal, which is available both on a 24-month plan and month-to-month.
You can upgrade two speed tiers to Standard Plus Evening Speed for an additional $15 each month (so $75 in total). Again, this option is available off-contract, but month-to-month plans do incur a $200 setup fee.

iiNet
iiNet’s Basic Evening Speed plan begins at $59.99 for 500GB of data, both on a 24-month contract or casually.
If you’d prefer more gigabytes, unlimited data plans start at $69.99 each month for Basic Evening Speeds, and $79.99 for Standard Plus Evening Speeds. If you decide to go contract-free, iiNet charges a $79.95 activation fee at setup.

TPG
Absolute cheapest-of-the-cheap plans at TPG start at $29.99, but with just 10GB of data, you’re probably going to need something more substantial. If you increase your data to 100GB, TPG offers Basic Evening Speed plans from $49.99 both on- and off-contract.
TPG is also offering new customers their first three months free, provided you lock-in your NBN service on an 18-month contract. Unlimited data starts at $59.99 per month with TPG, on either an 18-month contract or a casual, month-to-month plan.
This option gives you Basic Evening Speeds, but you can upgrade to the much faster Standard Plus Evening Speed for an extra $10 per month ($69.99). All casual TPG plans incur a $99.95 setup fee.
