Living with No Regrets, What's on Your Bucket List
A Stanford University (US) research found that 91% of participants of 3,056 surveyed had made a bucket list.
“When you just Google the term ‘bucket list,’ it’s huge how much interest there is in this,” VJ Periyakoil, MD, clinical associate professor of medicine said. “It provides a very nice framework for thinking about your life goals, health and your mortality.”
Bucket lists are no longer for those who see the end of days coming, but for those who still have the desire to live the rest of their life without regrets. Being over fifty doesn’t give you an excuse to stop living. More than anything, it’s an excuse to live a little louder than before.
At the FiftyUp Club, we scoured the internet for ideas for a “bucket list” and here are 10 of our favourites we came across while in our search:
-build an aquarium in your house that you can swim in like retired CEO Eli Fruchter
-go to and participate in one or more the world’s most well-known festivals like Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest, Running of the Bulls and the like
-see the Southern Lights, better yet, hope on a plane and head towards the North Pole to see the Northern Lights
-go on an African safari or take a rail trip around Europe
-try an alternative therapy like reiki, reflexology or acupuncture
-travel Australia from coast to coast in a campervan (grand children optional)
-treat yourself and fly first class
-conquer a fear of yours (climb the Sydney Harbour bridge if you’re scared of heights, volunteer at a reptile sanctuary if you’re afraid of snakes or spiders)
-go skinny dipping
-write a book of your favourite memories to hand down to future generations
