30,000+ FiftyUps Join The Club To Get The Rewards They Deserve

Screen Shot 2013-10-28 at 4.40.06 PMMore than 30,000 consumers have now joined a new club designed to get Australia’s best customers the special offers and products they deserve.

One Big Switch and Macquarie Radio Network have combined forces to create the FiftyUp Club, an initiative focused on giving a voice to customers 50 and over and harnessing their combined buying power.

Over-50s are in many cases more reliable, more loyal and more valuable than younger customers, yet they largely feel ignored.

The FiftyUp Club will campaign on behalf of FiftyUp consumers, creating the special offers and unique products they deserve.

Over the past few weeks, the FiftyUp Club has sent a clear message to corporate Australia that they want better, cheaper products and services.

FiftyUps are one-third of the population and have half of the nation’s household buying power, but just 10% of sales budgets are targeted at them.

The Australian Human Rights Commissions has found many FiftyUps experience “product invisibility”, feeling “overlooked” by corporate Australia.

But not anymore. The FiftyUp Club aims to give our fastest-growing and savviest demographic the influence they have earned.

At the club’s launch, Macquarie radio shareholder and advertising guru John Singleton said FiftyUps had never received the attention they deserved as a group of consumers.

“Kids don’t buy anything, teenagers bludge off their parents, the next thing you know your kids are gone and by the time you’ve got a quid, you’re 50 – and [businesses] ignore you. It’s crazy!”

“FiftyUps are corporate Australia’s biggest missed opportunity. By forming a large Club, we think we can wake this sleeping giant,” said FiftyUp CEO David Issa.

“FiftyUps are also the backbone of our economy and our society, so it’s about time they got the products and services they deserve.”

Consumers can join at Joining the FiftyUp Club is free, and once enough members have joined, the FiftyUp Club will use the combined buying power to unlock discounts and special offers.
