Tell Canberra how changes to the Pension would affect you

Screen Shot 2014-04-24 at 10.39.02 AMTreasurer Joe Hockey has upped the ante on his pre-Budget rhetoric again today, announcing an “unprecedented” target for cutting spending growth and suggesting the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme could be curtailed along with the age pension and Medicare in the May 13 Budget.

Now it’s over to you. We want to know how rumoured changes in the Budget will affect you, so that we can tell Canberra what FiftyUps really think.

What would you do if they raised the pension age, for example, or the family home was no longer exempt from the pension means test?

Answer our quick two-minute survey today and give us the ammunition to lobby on your behalf if there are changes to the Age Pension when the Budget comes down.

Meantime, a huge 13,400 of you signed our Health Insurance petition calling for more facts on premium increases for FiftyUps after we unearthed the previously well-kept secret that our members were paying almost one-and-a-half the average national premium increase and cross-subsidising younger policyholders.

And more than 2500 of you have also left comments in our Conversation about how premium increases are affecting you, giving us plenty of ideas for future campaigns and offers. Congratulations.

The petition has now closed and we have made contact with the office of Federal Health Minister Peter Dutton and will report back when we have his response.

We are also hunting for a special Health Insurance offer for the FiftyUp Club, as many of you have asked for us to do – so stay tuned.
