Online Shopping Tricks, Part 2

Online-shopWe had a great response to our story a few weeks back on how to save money online.

So we’ve done some more research and come up with this Guide to Online Shopping Tricks, Part 2.

(By the way, if you missed it, you can still read Part 1 here.)

1. Promo Codes and Discounts

The Internet is your friend when it comes to discounts, coupons and promo codes. From sheets, towels, clothes, shoes and accessories discounts are available all over the Internet. When shopping online a simple trick before purchasing is to Google the brand along with ‘discounts’ or ‘free delivery’ – you’ll be amazed at what discounts you’ll find.

2. Multiple Discounts

Don’t stop at one discount. While many sites limit you to one coupon per shop this doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t use gift cards and coupons for the same purchase. Where possible use the % discount first so it comes off the full price, then apply the cash discount.

3. Social Media

Sign up to your favourite retailers’ emails and keep your eye out for any specials and discounts they send you. Similarly, follow them on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to find out about sales, promo codes, and special deals. In some cases, they only use social media to let people know about special offers.

4. Shopping Cart

If you’re not too worried about a particular item going out of stock. Put it in your shopping cart and wait a few days. Sometimes the store will offer you a further discount to try and incentivise you to buy.

5. Online Versus In-store purchases

Before purchasing online compare the retailer’s in-store price. They are not always the same and sometimes the online price isn’t the best deal.

6. Comparison Sites

Comparison sites aren’t just for insurance, it’s so much easier to compare online than in-store. Before purchasing make sure you compare the price online. You can use shopping search engines like Google Shopping. Chances are you can find the same product for a lower price through a different online store.

I had a recent problem with my BA falcon the drivers door acctuator for central locking broke ford wanted $200.00 for the part plus $176.00 to repair .I went on ebay and got the part brand new for $65.00.plus $12.00 delivery and 12 mths warranty and fitted it myself in just over an hour and I had no idea what I was doing I downloaded instructions from the ford forum site and had no trouble so instead of costing $376.00 it cost me $77.00. Sometime prior to this the power window unit gave up ford wanted $140.00 to diagnose the problem $210.00 for the part and $176.00 to fit it once again I went on ebay and got the part for $50.00 and fitted it myself in an hour with no dramas total cost for the 2 episodes $136.00 if I had it done by ford it would have been $902.00 how can these dealers justify their prices because the units are probably made in the same factorys and $176.00 to fit what took me an hour they would do in 30 mins as I was feeling my way

Coupon sites are great eg scoopon, ourdeal, suredeal, spreets so many more. Picked up KS 1000TC sheets for $59 incl postage from brands exclusive. Retail around $130. Get lots of emails for things that don't interest me or that I want but don't need. (Or can't afford) but can pick up cheap dinner out or night away things like that.

How do we communicate with someone regarding an aldi pre paid dim for mobile phone. I have bone and even the last week with no calls or texts at all dropped from $9.00 something credit to a week later with only $4.00 something credit weather I make a call or not it just eats up the 15.00 credit within a few weeks

You need to go into settings and turn off mobile data as it is consuming your call allowance. You will still be able to make and receive calls and text messages. If you want to use your phone on the internet re-enable data but use it sparingly or get a better plan that provides you with plenty of data.
