6 Money Saving Apps

app-store-submission-114We’ve pulled together a list of our favourite Money Saving apps for your smartphones and tablets.

1. TrackMySPEND
TrackMySpend is a FREE app that lets you record and keep track of your personal expenses as you go. It’s run by ASIC so you know it’s trustworthy. You can set a monthly budget, spending limits, saving goals & more.

2. MotorMouth
MotorMouth helps you find the cheapest petrol prices near you. The app includes a price map, a 7 Day Buying outlook and plenty of information to compare prices. It does cost to download it, but it could save you in the long run. Fill My Tank also compares fuel prices, but relies on other users to find the cheapest prices.

3.Viber, WhatsApp and Skype
Talk and text for free over the Internet. We’ve written extensively about these great apps here.

4. ATM Hunter
Don’t pay for ATM fees ever again. ATM Hunter was developed by MasterCard but allows you to search for your bank’s closest ATM.

5. Getprice
Free iPhone App that compares online prices to help you save. Just scan a barcode or enter a product name and the app compares for you.

6. Uber
Not necessarily cheaper, but the controversial new app is undercutting the taxi industry by linking amateur drivers with riders

Do you know of any money-saving apps?

Skyscanner is another useful app that allows you to compare airline prices and compare prices for a trip on different days of the week. It can save you heaps.

Viber is great. Clearer than a standard phone call from San Francisco to Bacchus Marsh

Richard, Pocketbook website is actually a bit more detailed than the app.

Uber is the best way to travel. When a vehicle is available near you it will let the driver know and as soon as the driver accepts your request you get to see how far away they are and when they will arrive. Your in control. I drive for Uber in Sydney and it is a great business model and easy to do. I love it.

Jess, Haven't used TrackMySpend as yet. The best app I have found for tracking expenditure is Pocketbook. I also still use a spreadsheet so doing both at the moment. Paul Clark
