NEW CAMPAIGN TO GET BETTER VALUE ON THE #1 COST OF LIVING ISSUE FOR OVER-50S; HEALTH INSURANCE

Australia’s biggest consumer club for over-50s is launching a campaign to source exclusive Health insurance offers for mature Australians.

The Great Aussie Health Check campaign aims to use the combined buying power of 25,000 consumers aged over 50 to negotiate exclusively discounted health insurance offers.

A recent survey of 1,000 plus over-50s found they rate Health Insurance as the #1 cause of bill stress to them and that just 2% believe their premium represents good value.

Many over-50s have suffered under perpetual price rises because they remain loyal to their providers. 69% declared they have been with their current fund for 6 years or more.

The Great Aussie Health Check campaign aims to break this loyalty and get better value by:

  • Signing up 25,000 consumers aged over 50 in the next 4 weeks
  • Use their collective buying power to source special health insurance offers, and
  • Get 1000s of Over-50s the health insurance premiums they deserve

FiftyUp Club’s Christopher Zinn is launching the campaign on national TV & radio today.

“Over-50s are an extremely important and loyal cohort of customers for the health insurance industry, it’s about time they were rewarded for this.

“MA50+ is a chance for FiftyUps to come together and use their collective buying power to deliver some real cost of living relief. We want 25,000 FiftyUps to join and send a clear message to the health insurance industry – it’s time FiftyUps got what they deserved”.

Joining the Great Aussie Health Check is entirely cost and obligation-free. Consumers can sign up at www.FiftyUpClub.com.au. Registration closes at midnight on 30 September 2016.

Details of case study FiftyUps who are feeling the effects of unaffordable health insurance and have joined the campaign, are available for media outlets on request.

No rewards for loyalty. Premiums increasing, rebates decreasing. Ridiculous that out of pocket expenses have to be paid with private health cover yet if you go into a public hospital nil out of pocket expenses. It is ridiculous having to pay for inpatient tests such as pathology when you have private cover. The more you pay the less you get!!!!!!!!!

It's about time the over FIFTY's are rewarded for their LOYALTY. WHY should men have to fully pay for MRI PROSTATE EXAMINATION and yet women 45 to 50 have FREE IVF,BREAST CANCER TREATMENTS, even though men have PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE it doesn't cover the MRI.

Been with my health ins co. 16 years, paying a small fortune for top cover, my husband and I can reduce cover but won't be covered for knee/hip surgery, catarachs, heart and spinal problems! We are just over 60 and was told we can go to lower level but increase the cover and wait 12 months if we had these problems. Was asked if I thought we would need heart cover. How would I know? When I was younger the choice was Basic, Med and High cover. No exclusions. How do I know if I am going to have a heart attack! Just trying to compare health insurance covers is enough to give me one!!

I agree with all of the comments below why should we keep paying the same premiums when we don't need them eg: maternity!!!!! and for a whole family when there is only two of us.....

My wife and I have been researching Health Ins. lately to upgrade as most specialists are only interested in private hospitals for treatment. The cover we need is over $4000 per annum and they will only pay 60 to 70% of the cost plus an excess of $500. NOT good enough!

My husband and I are paying nearly $110 a fortnight to Medicare Private, we are still working full time, but I feel that when we retire we may not be able to pay, and this may be the time when we need private health insurance the most (we hardly ever make claims now and we are nearly 60).

Where is the reward for loyalty or long term membership with min I mal claim history. All the offers seem aimed at new members only!

It seems Inurance co's are only interested in short term risks. Most of my age have been with same co's since we transferred from our parent's cover at 17 or so, and naturally have progressed to different needs by now - that would have been known by the co's when we first joined up. Wasn't that what our unused premiums should have covered?
