5 TIPS FOR SAVING ON YOUR GYM MEMBERSHIP
Whilst driving past my local gym yesterday (driving past it is something I do often even when I have my gym gear in the car) I noticed they are aggressively marketing at the moment. I wondered why this would be given it’s the beginning of the year and I would have assumed, business would be booming – apparently not.
New Year's resolution crowds are on the wane and so gyms are looking to get more people through the door. Make this work in your favour.

Score Free Trials, Coupon Deals or Cheap Passes
Sites like Groupon and LivingSocial often offer coupons that give you a chance to test-drive a facility on the cheap and then lower the costs of membership and classes if you sign on. Most gyms are also fine with letting prospective members try out the place via a day- or week-long free trial. Investigate Group Discounts
Some gyms will cut you a better deal if you’re joining with a family member or friend. Likewise, ask your company if they will support a gym membership discount as part of a wellness package.
Check Out Studios
If you don’t need all the bells and whistles, look for gym studios. I’ve tried this a couple of times at one near more called Fitness on Fox and it’s like having a personal trainer on hand all the time!
Negotiate in Person
You negotiate your salary so sit down with the club’s manager to work out a better rate or see if they'll waive the sign-up fee.
Look for a Low-Commitment Contract
Some gyms allow you to pay by the month rather than lock you into a 12-month ironclad contract.
