Meet the oldest Air Ambulance Nurse in Australia

Maureen Roberts has many career highlights to share from her 32 years as Australia’s longest serving air ambulance nurse.

In a recent interview on Macquarie Media, Maureen told the story of the pilot of her aircraft passing out at the controls and how she calmly popped his oxygen mask on and brought him around enough to land the plane. And you thought your job had challenges!

Maureen began her career in the Riverina and became interested in the Air Ambulance are speaking to a fellow nurse from the service. She started her career in Albury but is now based at Mascot, near Sydney.

Another memorable moment of her career involved a premature baby in the skies over the Hunter Valley in NSW. The Air Ambulance needed to land but a FA18 Hornet on “critical fuel” took precedence. Maureen remembers saying to the Air Ambulance pilot “the fighter pilot can eject if he needs to but we can’t, we need to land”!

One of the wonderful things about her job, Maureen told us, is that every day is a different experience depending on the patients you're transporting.

“Sometimes you're taking people home to die and they know they're going to die and they have the most amazing conversations with you."

Hope we can get some good discounts. Agree - Grant - water rates need looking at.

Where are the Govt regulators and power supply companies? Don't they plug in to the 50+ club? How can they resist explaining how the regulated rates can be discounted by 17% (plus commission to the club) and companies still make a profit? Come on! BIG CHANCE TO RELATE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Why is the text so small. people 50 and more, have difficulty reading small type so what about increasing the text size or having the option to enlarge or change the font to a darker or bolder font?

Dorothy

Try using "Ctrl" Key and "+" Key simultaneously to increase text size, then repeat as needed (use "-" in place of "+" to reduce text.

Ann here, recently joined. I am retired and a 'grey nomad', under the age pension age so supporting myself. Sold my house and the savings invested but the interest rates on investment have halved since I retired. This has made things a bit 'tight'. Looking to buy a home to live in (downsize) but in no hurry. I have tried to have some input into some comments already. Cheers ????

Grant..QLD ..Hi all ..i suggest that as many people as possible rally on this sight to try to force reductions in our very costly Council Rates...it a big joke the prices they are charging....especially the water charges...are we not to shower or wash our clothes?...i already dont water the lawn or gardens... the lastest rates bill is $880..water component approx $480 for the quarter..how on earth do they justify the price increases....Wake up Logan Council....come on stop robbing us blind...
