Stay Healthy with These Winter Health Tips
Dropping temperatures often lead to an increase in colds and flus, but you can prepare yourself for the on coming cold and flu season and protect yourself from getting sick with these easy tips.
- Sleep well. Did you know that the lack of sleep can affect your immune system making you more vulnerable to colds and flus.
- Get an influenza and a pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccination. If you are 65+, it’s FREE via the National Immunisation Program.
- Whether you are staying indoors or heading outside, dress warm.
- Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
- If you cough and sneeze into your hand, stop the spread of germs by washing your hands immediately.
- If you are sick, stay home. This is the one time you don’t want to “pay it forward”. Take care of yourself and keep others from getting sick.
If you do get sick and your symptoms worsen, go see a doctor as your “simple cold or flu” could turn into something serious before you know it.
