$700k worth of savings tips from the government

It's a shame and very unfair that the age for the aged pension has increased. We worked hard all our adult life and paid taxed which funded the aged pension for those before us. Now that it's our turn, we have so many people younger than us sitting on welfare that the government doesn't have the money to pay for our retirement. We have been funding both our current pensioners and the welfare recipients so when we are ready to retire who is going to pay? It's easy for the pollies to say you have to be self funding but many of us are working class and never had the opportunity or the income to pay into a super fund. The only super we have is that which the employer has put in since it became compulsory since 1990, so now we have to work years longer to get the pension. Does anyone else feel the same? 

Private enterprise,should not get Government hand-outs.Lets not forget GMH & Ford are American companies.Decisions made on Manufacture,models etc,Are made in USA Boardrooms.Mitsubishi and Toyota are Japanese companies.Again decisions come from Japan.Lets not forget,Australian cost effective manufacturing,cannot compete with what workers are paid in USA,Thailand,Mexico,China,Malaysia,Indonesia,India,Bangladesh etc.Australia has the capacity to lead the world in technical know-how,But Greedy Unions and workers, priced our workers out of being able to compete on the world stage.I have worked all my life in UK,Australia and PNG.Now I am 67 and Disabled,I think I like many others are entitled to our pension/Disability payment.Those of us who have bought our own homes,Should be exempt from the means test.As we have paid for our homes with money already taxed.And we do need somewhere to live,without trying to enter Aged Pensioner Homes who have very long waiting lists.Government wants to save money?Close down immigration centres,Send back home all Illegal immigrants,who paid people smugglers to get here.Allow only GENUINE immigrants here,who must OBEY all Australian laws,or if they break them,Deport them straight back to country of origin.This must go for Tourists as well. 

Oh I agree whole completely with Cheryl (N.S.W.),lets help those who need assistance, not every Tom Dick or Jane who are too idle to get out in the world and get a job or a pension when they haven't earned it. 

Dennis from Scone Age of entitlement the comments from Joe Hockey were quite interesting. Who started the age of entitlement it was the Government (both sides of politics are at fault) and over the years they could not change it as it cost them votes. If they are to make cuts to welfare they should also make them to persons who receive renumeration from the public purse it should be one in all in including politicians. 

We brought up c4 children with no family tax benefit, paid parental leave ,or child benefits. We struggled for a while but managed by going without non essentials for a few years. The age of entitlement should be reined in and people become more self reliant. 

all very well saving$ 75 on car insurance but they don't insure caravans or boats which we as over 50 grey nomads have . so it is not cheep as I would have separate excess on the car and caravan if involved in a collision and my current company YOUI only have the one excess if all three items are involved 

Typical of the govt screw the workers over and keep paying for all the illegal immigrants that have been smuggled into our country a lot of us have worked long and hard and waiting for retirement and what will we get for all of our toil blood sweat and tears? a big fat ZERO while the politicians rake in the big bucks for screwing the tax payers over even more WAY TO GO GOVT BLOOD SUCKERS 

Cheryl from NSW I believe we have bred a class of people who believe they are owed a living from the taxpayer, if for no other reason than they can't be bothered working. Case in point was an article last week where three generations of families are on welfare and have no intention of working - "why should I?" I have worked and paid taxes all my life and I object to the hand out these people get without lifting a finger. One of the 'dole' recipients was covered in tattoos - how did he afford them? This money would be better used in health, education and emergency services. 

what happens if you do not have kids to pay the medical bills die in the gutters ?/ these people know what is going on in the government and they are putting the money away for themselves only and bleed the aged and pensioners 

i am really concerned as to what is happening in our hospitals and they have been getting away with it in the public system for quite a while now my partner was diagnosed with prostrate cancer he was sent to hospital to get his meds under control while in hospital he had a massive nose bleed he was discharged the next day against my wishes i took him to his gp who did a blood test and it came back he was so enimic that he needed two blood transfusions and a iron transfusion my gp sent a nasty letter to the hospital this happened just over a year ago they are cost cutting in hospitals and the pallative and aged people are suffering because of it my mother was diagnosed last sept due to cervical cancer now and i was told by her treating dr at the hospital after being sent in by the nursing home for a simple bowel blockage do not send her back as she is a waste of resources?? she only fought for this country in world war two and paid all her taxes all her life i was told once again this after she had a fall three weeks ago the same thing for a simple xray to see if she had a broken bone i was told the same thing again it is very very scary out there if they are cost cutting for our elderly and pallative people where is it going to stop ?? when you have finished work all your life ?? or have a mental illness?? or autistic kids or something minor they will not treat you any more stand up to what is happening in our hospitals thanks pat
